Project Release Stout Cask

55% ALC/VOL 700ml

Stout Cask was double distilled and then aged for the first half of its life in new American oak before being transferred and finished in a barrel with a story.

This second barrel started its journey as a new American oak, used to age The Gospel rye. It was then bestowed to Melbourne brewery Wolf of the Willows in 2020 as part of their barrel exchange program, and used to mature their Rye Whiskey Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout Persistence for 6 months – the first of a three-part annual release. It was then returned to its origins for its final resting place.

Best enjoyed neat or on the rocks over the festive season – one to enjoy while pondering what has been and what is still to come.

The Good Word

When considering collaborations for The Gospel, we always look to work with brands who have a similar ethos. Like us, Wolf of the Willows is dedicated to producing handmade products focused on quality, flavour and character.

This barrel has come full circle. The imperial stout influence delivers a rich and voluptuous texture with its vaguely bitter chocolate fudge and fruity espresso notes. It gives the whiskey a gentle warmth and plenty of indulgence in the glass.
